Fitness Friday #5- Go Outside

Do you tend to get burnt out on your workout routine? I do! For me, it is vital to change it up to make sure that I don't get bored. After all, taking care of your body is much easier to do when you find ways to make it enjoyable. So rather than running around like a hamster on a cardio machine, take your beautiful self outside and enjoy the sunshine!

Go Outside

According to this article, 10 to 20 percent of the U.S. population suffer from seasonal depression, with women making up three-fourths of this percentage. Perhaps Dr. Holly has the cure for you, girls: GET SOME SUNSHINE!! I always feel so satisfied after a walk outside on a pleasant day. I grab my water bottle and some upbeat music and head right out the door. Oftentimes, I find myself smiling as I wander through the neighborhood because I just can't contain my happiness when I see the beauty of the world around me.

Go Outside

Once the weather is no longer cooperating, regardless of whether it is rainy, freezing, or just miserably hot, you'll be glad that you took advantage of those nice days while you had the chance. Rather than constantly working out in a stuffy indoor environment, take it outside where you've got an endless supply of fresh air. When you notice that the trees and flowers are growing, the trees are blossoming, and the birds are singing, go outside and join them for a little time in the sun. Chances are, you'll return home feeling happy AND healthy. :-)

I walked outside today too, but it was dark and cold when I did it!

A walk is my best medicine. If there is no wind even better. If there is sunshine...bliss.

Your RedBud and sunshine pictures are so lovely.

Walking is pretty much my favorite form of exercise, well that next to gardening... And you are totally right, the spring and fall are my favorite times to walk because the weather is beautiful, but mild enough to enjoy!

Have a wonderful weekend Holly!

Each time I read another post of your's I'm all "yup, yup, YES!" We agree on so much and I think you're so awesome that you're probably one of the only chicks who I'd be a sister wife with.

PS: Thanks SO much for your compliments on my last post. The Leo in me melted into the floor with gratitude that my ego was stroked. Also, I think you're just A.dorable and if I had a boyfriend right now I'd show him the blog of one of the only other chicks I'd be down with being a sister wife with, who is also foxy.

PPS: I do your ab - leg exercises at the gym all the time now. :)

The sun and birds and trees just make me grin while I walk, too. :D

I totally agree with this. NOTHING is better than a nice walk after a long or stressful day. It totally turns my mood around whenever I am feeling blah.

well Doc, you gave the best prescription. This winter has been longer than most it seems and I NEED sunshine now. Thank goodness it is supposed to be about 80 and sunny tomorrow !!
Love those Redbuds.

I agree completely! The snow is melting here, and I just bought myself a cute bike helmet so as soon as it's not too slushy and wet outside I'm going to start biking to work and getting my Vitamin D from the sunshine :D

So true Holly! I've been doing a little of this myself lately! Perhaps you should do some tips on what exercise moves one could do in the park, without equipment.
