I went to a carnival last night.....

....and it was awesome, for about 30 minutes. And then I just really wanted to go home. I like being around people. In fact, I usually think of myself as a rather social person. I don't mind large crowds, and I'm not intimidated by the idea of making conversation with strangers. But on this particular Saturday evening, I'll be honest: people were really getting on my nerves. I think it was hot enough outside that even a total people-person would rather not be pressed in between so many bodies. I could not get enough of things like this when I was a little girl. Am I now turning into a crabby old lady?

I like to look on the bright side though. Yes, I was a little sad that these things lose so much of their magic once you exit puberty. But some good came of it. I took some photos, because I just couldn't help myself. So many colors, lights, and all-around cheesiness make for easy subjects.

As much as I love the look of these rides, they are definitely not my cup of tea. That's right, I am the wussy kid who has to sit and watch while all her friends go on the big-kid rides. I can handle some of the more easy-going rides, but go ahead and deal me out if there is any chance it's going to leave me in a world of hurt. I know it makes me seem like a party-pooper, but I really do have your best interest at heart. You don't want to be a witness to the effect these rides can have on my tender little tummy. Trust me.

Now that I've labeled myself as a total pansy, I want to know about your carnival ride tolerance. Are you the "sit on the bench and watch as others twirl their bodies around in all directions" type of person, or would you place yourself more on the "how much are tickets? I've got to hurry up and jump in that humongous line for 30 seconds of dizzy euphoria" side of the spectrum?

I love the rides, all of them! The bigger the better!
But I'm not a huge fan of the crowds and too many people... too many people pushing and shouting and all that, not really my thing anymore...

I sit out on the big kid rides, too. Especially the one where the floor drops out while your standing and spinning! Not for me! I ,however; cannot deal with large crowds as I have an anxiety disorder. It's not that I don't like people; I just get insanely nervous around crowds.

Beautiful pictures!

I'm a bag holder. :) I do like a leisurely tube float or swing ride, but I prefer to enjoy the ride rather than fight it! I LOVE to people watch & to do old time photos and cheesy things like that though! :)

Where in the world did you find a carnival last night around here??

oh you poor little kid, I love the big rides. And I just love to watch scenes at a carnival too, so lovely, so bright, so ....exciting!! I read that it anxious some people, but I love it. The only thing I scared about at the carnival is getting pick-pocketed.

The magic will come back, you were just having an moment of intolerance driven by the 100 degree heat! I used to love rides and now they make me dizzy. I always forget that however, ride, then swoon all the rest of the trip! Wonderful pictures!

Oh dear, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy yourself (though you did for the first 30 mins). lol. But these pics are really beautiful!!! At least you brought some pics back. haha.

It really depend on my mood whether or not I'd like to take these rides. Come to think of it, the last time I did was quite a few years back so I'm not sure if my heart can still take it now. :p

Ps: That was so sweet of you to think of me when you see Angels! :D

Hugs~

Great photos! I am a bit of a ride wimp too... although I was really proud of myself that I went on everything at Disneyland last year. ;)

Those pictures are awesome. I miss the carnival they hold not far up the street from me. It's been years and years since I've gone. I'm not sure you're becoming a crabby old lady as much as it is your tolerance for stupidity decreases with age, or at least that's what I've found. Besides it's like you said it eventually gets to a point where being packed among people in the heat gets unbearable for anyone.

As for the rides I'm a bit in between, I'm admittedly a bit hesitant to go on some of the crazier ones but once I do I always enjoy myself. I don't have a weak stomach at all, but on a quick drop it's real easy for it to get that sensation that happens, almost too easy so I'm always a bit hesitant.

how fun! I don't do well in large crowds, I'm the crabby old lady :)
I can't do the rides that spin (most of them) because they make me sick. I'm a party pooper. never take me to the carnival.

I don't like crowds so much! :-(( but I love to watch people. Normally I don't go to visit carnivals. I don't enjoy myself so much because I get dizzy riding and looking at all the games.

The pictures are wonderful!

I love rides, but you're rigt... After puberty they aren't as great. Now I look forward to seeing my daughter on the rides.
I believe our carnival is coming in July, very soon. Now she's big enough to ride of most of the little kid rides, how exciting :)

You stayed long enough to take pictures, and that is what counts. :)

I love carnivals! They make the perfect pictures with all the lights and colorful rides!

My favorite part about carnivals is the food. I'm not a big carnival ride girl.. I will go on them but the price and the fact that some guys put these rides together in less than a day sounds far from safe.

Me and Ross have been known to drive up to a carnival, buy a funnel cake, then leave. :)

I'm a pansy too when it comes to rides. My stomach just doesn't like them. Really nice pictures!!

I don't like crowds at all or rides very much. I don't mind some of the ones that jostle you around, but I can't do any with a large drop. I'm a cranky party pooper, too!

I'll be at the candy shack... ♥

And I'll say too, that I used to love roller coasters and such like that, but carnival rides have never really thrilled me. They are too jerky, for lack of a better word... and as I've gotten older, my stomach has gotten more sensitive. Partly too, I'm just a big fat chicken to do anything that might be even the slightest bit scary.

I'm not a fan of the rides, but I am a fan of your photos! They're great! You should put them on Flickr. :)
