A way to put your dollars to good use

If you're like me, you are pretty cautious about how you spend your money these days. If I'm going to throw down my hard-earned cash, I want it to at least be with a company, seller, or cause that I can stand behind. And right now on etsy, there are many artists coming together to provide their customers with a chance to do just that.

Project Embrace is a collaborative effort among etsy sellers who are gathering in support of Laura Slocum, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last month. Laura has two shops on etsy, Creatively Tangled and Laura Slocum Painted. She also has a blog where you can follow as she faces this obstacle with courage and grace.

There are many ways in which etsy artists are working together to encourage Laura. You will find numerous items with at least a percentage (and in some cases all) of the profits being donated to the American Cancer Society in honor of Laura Slocum. These items may be located by searching etsy for "etsyprojectembrace". These are just a few of the beautiful things you will find.

Felted bowl by cityroad.

Pastel pink wildflower watercolor art pendant by LauraSlocumPainted.

1853 Morris Butterfly Print by slinkymalinkicat.

Sterling love necklace by PianoBenchDesigns.

Rustic Cottage Blue Birdhouse by Bacon Square Farm.

Etsy love magnets by GreenPost.

Flower cup by loveartworks.

Have a Heart pendant by me!

So if you get a chance, do a little etsy search and see if you find anything you need/want. Because if I did my math correctly, the equation goes like this: You get a beautiful, handmade item + money from that item is donated to an extremely important organization = everybody wins. Have a lovely day, my friends!

Fantastic post!!!!
Thank you very much for your support of etsy project embrace and of my work in Green Post. I am honored by this feature and feel just as you do that Etsy is an incredible community! So much generosity and kindness is going around right now & that gives many people hope and encouragement. I know Laura would appreciate this show of support just as I do. Thank you and best wishes to you :)

I just bought something I really like to have from Etsy.. it's a bracelet with the word 'courage' on it. Laura's courageous spirit truely inspires me. Thank you for sharing her blog (story) with us!

PS: I understand what you mean when you said the Vietnamese lady didn't have the same accent as the lady in my video. I think it is understandable that everyone from different parts of the world speaks with different accent. I actually find it very cute when Caucasian speaks Chinese!

Currently we have a chinese show on TV on every Tue whereby people from different countries (America, UK, Japan, Korea, etc) coming together to share their different cultures. The interesting part is, all of them have to communicate in Chinese! It is really cool and fun. lol. Here's one of the video on youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvCJNAMgOYg
You may not understand the language but see how much fun they're having! haha.

Hugs~

From what I know, there are 2 Ikeas in Texas (one near Austin and the one I frequent in Frisco-- right outside of Plano/Dallas) It gets a little crowded on weekends, but if you are ever needing pretty affordable home furnishings or just want to browse the showroom... you could stay forever in there! Haha.. there's so many neat things to look at and get ideas from. :) I hope your weekend is going good!!! I went shopping all day today and tomorrow I'm going to build my new organizer and finish putting everything up in my craft room.. yay!

It's fantastic that people rally like that to work for a worthy cause!
As soon as Etsy is up again, I'll do a search!
