I made more squirrels!

Since my squirrel figurines that I showed you in this post received such a positive response from my friends, I decided to make a few more of them. If you're wondering what in the world would possess me to spend large amounts of time attempting to sculpt the perfect squirrel, well I'll tell you. It's because these little creatures have been bringing me so much joy this year, and I can't help but be inspired by their adorable ways.

I love it when they come to my balcony and play peek-a-boo in my plants.

I love to leave food out for them so I can watch them dive head first into the bowl of seeds, grab a nice handful to munch on, and then go back for more over and over again.

The squirrel in the above photographs stayed at my little feeding station for an hour or more. He must have been trying to fatten himself up for the cold winter months ahead when food will be scarce. What he doesn't know is that I'll make sure there is always food for him on my balcony, no matter what the season.

Since I get so much enjoyment from watching these little guys outside my window, I naturally started getting ideas for squirrel-related crafts I could make. The design for my acorn squirrels has been cooking in my mind for a long time. I knew exactly what I wanted to do, and all I needed were a few supplies from Mother Nature. So I headed to my favorite park to gather some acorns.

I collected a whole bag full of them and headed home with my loot, excited about trying something new. Since everyone who saw them at Indie Emporium had such nice things to say about them, I've made two more squirrels to offer to you guys. I'd like to introduce to you to Mr. and Mrs. Squirrel!

You can find them right here in my etsy shop. It makes me very happy to pay close attention to every detail while my hands are busy bringing these little critters to life. I hope they'll bring someone else as much happiness as they bring me. At this moment in time, I think squirrels are my favorite animal. What's yours?

They are just too cute... I love how you make the tails!
I wish we had squirrels here in Australia, I will have to enjoy them through your photographs and crafts. I can't wait to see what else they inspire you to make :)

They remind me of the little squirrel in Ice Age where the acorn was his life.. so cute!! I think you can make a squirrel family - father, mother, babies, grandparents.. and sell them as a series. It will be so much fun! hee!

Im glad you made some more cute squirrels. Theyre even cuter up close :)
I think if i went to the US i would have to smuggle home a squirrel! They remind me of my kitty with the crazy fluffy tail :)
Do you have to hide from them when you take photos, or arent they very scared of people?

Rose- Their tails remind me of my cat too! Sometimes I even call him my little squirrel. And as for scaring them away, they really don't seem to be too frightened by me- especially if I don't make any sudden movements. Plus I use the zoom feature on my camera. So while it may look like I'm sitting right next to them, I'm actually about 4 feet away on the other side of the glass door.

They are adorable!

I have squirrel figurines in one of my flower beds. MY husband's Cherokee name meant "squirrel". They are special to me.

You made me smile today! Thank you!

My college's bookstore sells lots of squirrel stuff. Our campus ones were quite intrepid. If you ever were interested in getting them into a store, I could put you in contact with someone. Just a thought. They are ridiculously adorable!

OMG! Holly, those are the cutest little guys! I put them in my favorites, going to get one for Devon (I know she can't really play with it now) but I want to start a little figurine collection for her and your squirrel will be the first:)

Completely adorable and I'll definately be purchasing one of these in the future for a Christmas gift to my mom.. She loves squirrels too!
We have some of the best squirrels here. They dont really trust us(we have dogs...) but I put out corn on the cob for them and water them. Plus they get into our birdseed... so the squirrels here are nice and plump. I've been trying to get photos of one. When I first moved in he had a little patch of gray on his back and now he is almost completely gray except for his tummy. I'm pretty sure its all the fence hopping he does. =]

Those are just too cute!! I saw a squirrel the other day coming from the neighbor's corn field with an ear of corn bigger than he was. Looked pretty funny! Good thing the dog didn't see him too.

How sweet! We've got dozens of squirrels all over the place here (There's woods right behind our house.) and there are usually 3-4 playing in the yard at any given moment.

Sweet!! We have little chipmunks that scurry around our new house. I love them!

My favorite animals right now are definitely still birds, though. I was shopping the other day, and I had to pause beside one of the landscaping trees in the parking lot to watch all the happy little birds eating berries off it. :D

Yeah! They're back! They are so freaking cute! And I love their little tails :)

P.S. I have a random scarf for you that seems like it would have a better home with you than with me :)
